Direct Community Grant Program

The Oakland City Council supports Oakland-based nonprofits and community-based organizations that provide direct services or programs to Oakland Residents and are working to advance the City's racial equity goals.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program

The DBE Program provides small businesses, owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, a fair opportunity to compete for federally funded transportation contracts.

The Public Ethics Commission acts as filing officer for financial disclosure statements filed by candidates, political committees, lobbyists, and designated City employees and officials. Disclosure statements are public records and are available for review online.

Distribution, Warehousing and Logistics Facilities

The Gateway Industrial District includes industrial spaces for warehouses, distribution facilities and fulfillment centers. These activities constitute the circulatory system of trade and commerce, which involves, among other things, trucking fleets, shipping containers and rail cars. The nature of these activities at the Gateway Industrial District will be derived from overall demand and market needs. Operations of these facilities is governed by Air Quality Plans that are linked below.

District Development

With funding commitments from the City of Oakland and grant funding from the US Department of Transportation, Transportation Commissions of the State of California and Alameda County, the City, in cooperation with the Port of Oakland, is leveraging significant private investment to transform the former Oakland Army Base into a modern logistics center and mixed-use redevelopment. This redevelopment will benefit the local, county-wide and regional jurisdictions by creating: (1) new public infrastructure and (2) private development that together will provide new jobs, fiscal returns and improve the local and regional transportation system.

Downtown Oakland Senior Center (DOSC)

Life may not begin at 55, but here at the Downtown Oakland Senior Center (DOSC) we believe life starts getting better! Our center is a terrific place to socialize and interact with other active seniors. Located across from Lake Merritt, Downtown Oakland Senior Center is Oakland's oldest and largest senior center. Downtown Oakland Senior Center focuses on providing seniors with innovative programs and services that address the physical, mental, and emotional well being of older adults.

Downtown Oakland Specific Plan (DOSP)

The City of Oakland is preparing a specific plan for downtown Oakland to ensure continued growth and revitalization to benefit both downtown residents and the larger community. The plan will provide sound policy guidance on development, linking land use, transportation, economic development, housing, public spaces, cultural arts, and social equity. Amendments to the City’s Zoning Map and Planning Code are the first step to implementing the Plan’s goals.

East Oakland Neighborhoods Initiative

The East Oakland Neighborhoods Initiative is a partnership between the City of Oakland Planning Bureau and twelve community-based organizations focused on equity-based planning for Deep East Oakland. Together, we have conducted a year of community outreach to identify the primary concerns, goals, and priorities for East Oakland residents and stakeholders. East Oakland Senior Center (EOSC)

East Oakland Senior Center (EOSC) is situated at the Ira Jinkins Park in Oakland's Brookfield neighborhood. It is an essential component of a cluster of centers that collectively contribute significantly to the advancement and enrichment of the East Oakland community and the overall improvement in the residents' quality of life. EOSC offers a diverse range of activities and programs such as step exercise, karaoke, line dancing, pool, and food pantry distribution. Additionally, it organizes monthly day trips to various destinations, including eateries, bowling alleys, theaters, and casinos. The facility is open to both public and private events, providing a versatile space for gatherings and occasions.
