Electronic Communication Devices Policy Ad Hoc (DGO I-19)

The purpose of the Cellphones and Other Electronic Communication Devices Ad Hoc Committee is to consider for Commission adoption the Oakland Police Department's (Department) draft policy outlining the rules and expectations governing the on-duty use of Department-issued cellular phones and other Department-issued electronic devices, as well as personal cellular phones and other personal electronic devices. The policy includes direction on training and audit procedures. The policy will apply to full-time sworn officers, certain annuitants and reserve sworn officers, professional staff at the rank of supervisor and above, and others in the discretion of the Chief of Police.

Emergency Home Repair Program (EHRP)

The Emergency Home Repair Program provides loans for home repairs that require immediate attention such as a citation issued by a Fire Marshall, Health Officer or Code Enforcement Officer, leaking roof sewer break.

Emergency Shelter & Transitional Housing Zoning Update

The City of Oakland updated its Planning Code on July 15, 2014 to comply with California State Law Senate Bill 2, 2007, (SB 2). SB 2 requires cities to permit emergency shelters in at least one zoning district without a conditional use permit or other discretionary action. City staff worked with stakeholders and the public to develop policy options related to appropriate locations in Oakland for emergency shelters. Emergency shelter performance and development standards were also collaboratively developed.
