The mission of Oakland Animal Services is to improve the lives of people and animals in our community by assisting injured wildlife, facilitating adoption of shelter animals, supporting guardians of companion animals, combating animal cruelty and neglect, and when needed, serving as the safety net for the neediest animals living in the City of Oakland.

Ms. Dunn is recognized as a visionary and innovative animal welfare leader whose collaborative approach has led her to find creative solutions in the government and non-profit sectors.
Most recently Ms. Dunn has served as the founder and Executive Director of Cat Town, a cat rescue organization in Oakland that focuses on helping the most vulnerable cats from local municipal shelters. At Cat Town, Ms. Dunn developed a new model for animal rescue, inspired by her time as a volunteer at Oakland Animal Services (OAS).
