The former Mosswood estate became a public park between 1909 and 1911, thereafter hosting pre-NBA basketball players on its courts, important cultural events on its grounds and everyday Oaklanders throughout the years.

The proposed project includes three separate but interconnected plots on the Mountain View Cemetery property. Developing the three parcels would include extensive grading and tree removal, extension of existing roadways through the three plots and improvements such as landscape walls and stairs, an amphitheater for gatherings, crypts and columbarium niches, and planting of new trees.

Neighborhood Councils (NC’s) are made up of Oakland residents working in partnership with the City of Oakland to address ongoing problems in their neighborhoods.
Every block is organized, and every neighbor is skilled, networked, and empowered to work together and in partnership with the City and outside agencies to solve problems and build a healthy, resilient community.
