The City of Oakland Department of Transportation (OakDOT) announced today the issuing of the City’s first official e-scooter permits. The permits will allow four operators to provide the popular shared mobility service while holding them accountable to concerns voiced by Oakland residents.

On Thursday May 9, 2019, from 7am to 9:30am, Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO) produces the largest Bike To Work Day celebration of the No Pollute Commute at Frank Ogawa Plaza in front of Oakland City Hall. Councilmember Dan Kalb will present a resolution celebrating the City of Oakland’s Gold Level Bicycle-Friendly Community designation and Bike To Work Day. Thursday marks the City of Oakland’s 26th celebration of Bike To Work Day, held on the 2nd Thursday of May each year.

Oakland now ranks among the nation’s top bicycle-friendly cities. The City’s investments and long-term commitment to bike-friendly infrastructure and services helped win Oakland recognition as one of just 34 U.S. cities designated a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly Community by Washington D.C.’s League of American Bicyclists (LAB).
