Oakland, CA. - Additional officers from the Oakland Police Department will be out on patrol several nights from 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

On December 16, 2020, at approximately 6:34 PM the Communications Division received reports of a shooting in the 5500 block of East 15th Street.

On December 12, 2020, The Oakland Police Department was notified of a shooting in the 7400 block of Hillside Street.

The Oakland Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is currently investigating several incidents that occurred in November and December, where female adult victims were sexually assaulted near Lake Merritt and the Downtown Oakland area.

The Oakland Police Department is seeing an uptick of juveniles committing armed robberies and carjackings.

The Oakland Police Department Traffic Division has seen an increase in fatalities on Oakland roadways. This year, 33 people were killed on Oakland streets, compared to 27 in 2019. Most of these collisions occurred between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM.

The Oakland Police Department has seen an 18% decrease in robberies across the city this year. However, over the last three weeks, we’ve seen a recent surge in robberies citywide.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at approximately 12:25 AM, a patrol officer was flagged down in the area of Collins Street and Joe Morgan Avenue regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
