On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at approximately 12:25 AM, a patrol officer was flagged down in the area of Collins Street and Joe Morgan Avenue regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Officers located a male adult victim in the roadway in the 500 block of Hegenberger Road. Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew responded to the scene and provided medical treatment. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This incident is still under investigation, and the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit at (510) 777-8570.
