The City of Oakland celebrates this year's Juneteenth event with a panel of some of Oakland’s first African American politically elected and appointed City Officials. In the film featured here, they have shared their victories, challenges, and experiences being the first Black person in their field in local government.
This year’s theme is surrounding “Sankofa” – symbolizing taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present, making positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.
Thank you for watching.
