Oakland's Adopt a Spot program supports volunteers in upkeep of parks, creeks, shorelines, storm drains, streets, trails, and other public spaces. Volunteers have adopted hundreds of sites around Oakland. Public Works can provide tool loans, debris collection services, and technical assistance.
All Oakland Public Works volunteers must sign the updated waiver and guidelines with COVID-19 safety requirements. (Click here to access).
During the COVID-19 shelter in place, we are continuing to support volunteerism by individuals and households to clean and green Oakland.
Currently we are only issuing long-term tool and supply loans and have suspended tool returns.
Volunteer activities can include:
