Analyst, Administrative, Records, and Technician Positions

Learn about the many professional positions where you can support the Oakland Police Department's goals and mission. OPD employs auditors, communications operators, crime analysts, dispatchers, evidence and services technicians, and records specialists as well as other positions. These positions are not necessarily open and vacant at this time; links provided for informational purposes.

Annuitant Hiring

OPD annuitants conduct public safety employee background investigations. They may work a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year.

Apply for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP)

A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) may be required for new activities, special site or design requirements, and some new facilities. A CUP is reviewed by the Bureau of Planning to analyze and, when necessary, impose special conditions of approval.

Apply for a Demolition Permit

Building Permits are required when more than half of the exterior walls are to be demolished, whether residential, commercial, or industrial. Please review the permit application requirements below, as they vary by the scope and extent of your project.

Archived CPRB Annual and Policy Reports

These Reports reflect the work of the Citizens' Police Review Board (CPRB). In December 2017 the Community Police Review Agency (CPRA) replaced the CPRB as Oakland's civilian investigator of complaints of police misconduct by sworn members of the Oakland Police Department.
