July 2022
In July 2021, OakDOT had a fund balance in Measure BB Transportation Sales Tax from Fiscal Year 2020-2021 due to financial challenges resulting from the COVID-19 health crisis that triggered city restrictions placed on spending and a vacancy rate of over 20 percent for full-time positions.
Oakland City Council members amended the 2021-23 Biennial Budget and used this fund balance to increase OakDOT’s operational capacity and implement specific, identified traffic safety projects.
This page was created to report on the status of those projects and will be updated approximately quarterly.
This table summarizes the location-specific traffic safety projects identified and prioritized as part of this budget process.
A summary of the final allocation for the fund balance is detailed in Oakland City Council documents available here under the July 26, 2021 meeting minutes
Please note that this earmark process is a one-time process that is outside of OakDOT’s existing approach to prioritizing and implementing traffic safety improvements. For more information on OakDOT’s approach – please see the following pages.
