The Greenlining Institute is pleased to announce grants to 10 grassroots Oakland organizations working to close the digital divide. The program, called“The Town Link,” is a partnership between Greenlining and the City of Oakland aimed at increasing internet adoption and digital literacy in communities that have lacked internet access, including communities of color and low-income neighborhoods.

The City of Oakland’s first Poet Laureate, Dr. Ayodele Nzinga, will deliver her inaugural address on Thursday, October 7, at 6 p.m. The virtual event will include opening remarks by Mayor Libby Schaaf. This celebration of Dr. Nzinga’s new role will include performances by Bay Area artists and poets. The event will be presented live on Zoom and a video recording will be posted on the City’s website.

Today, September 30, the State of California’s Rent Eviction Moratorium ends. This end date has no impact on the City of Oakland. Oakland’s moratorium on evictions and rent increases will continue until the Local Emergency is terminated by Oakland City Council.
