Oakland, CA – As the school year comes to an end, the City of Oakland's Summer Food Service Program will be back in action, offering even more options and partnering with new sites and locations to provide free lunches to Oakland youth.
With approximately 33,000 children depending on free and reduced-cost school meals during the academic year, the City's Summer Food Service Program bridges the meal gap during the summer months.
Starting Tuesday, May 30, 2023, more than 50 youth-serving sites, including faith-based and community organizations, will provide free lunches, with most sites also offering a snack. The program is open to all children aged 18 and under, as well as adults with disabilities enrolled in a school program.
Finding a nearby meal site is easier than ever with the CA Meals for Kids app, available for smartphones. This user-friendly app allows families to locate free food distribution sites effortlessly.
