OPD Arrests Two in Connection to July Homicide
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Major Willis and a juvenile for their roles in the homicide of Kon Fung of Oakland. On July 17, 2022, Fung was shot and killed in the 2000 block of 13th Avenue. Tips from our community members and the diligent work of our Homicide Detectives led to both being safely taken into custody on August 9, 2022.
These arrests resulted from the collaborative effort of the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section, Violent Crime Operations Center (VCOC), and the San Francisco Police Department. Willis and the juvenile were officially charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
The brazen act of these individuals caused a ripple effect on Fung’s family and the surrounding community. Chief LeRonne L. Armstrong immediately deployed OPD’s Mobile Command Post and shifted patrols to provide a higher police presence in the area. Armstrong expresses his gratitude to community members for supporting the department and providing information that helped in this case.
