OPD remains vigilant of the numerous incidents occurring in the City of Oakland. This recent spike in violence will be met with additional officers on the streets this weekend.
OPD’S COMMITMENT:
- The added officer’s sole purpose will be to focus on violent crimes.
- Officers will be dedicated to illegal sideshow enforcement and supporting patrol officers for calls for services.
OPD also relies on intelligence-led policing. The department’s Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC), and the Violent Crime Operations Center (VCOC), lead OPD’s focused enforcement and apprehension efforts.
This year, the VCOC officers have arrested 10 individuals connected to homicides, as well as recovered three dozen firearms.
OPD encourages residents & businesses to consider installing security cameras.
