OPD NEWS: October 7, 2021
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a home invasion and sexual assault in the Redwood Heights Neighborhood. The incident happened today just before 4:00 AM. The suspect entered the residence through an unlocked window. The man approached two victims who were asleep and demanded money. The suspect sexually assaulted one victim before leaving the residence.
This appears to be a random act of violence. OPD needs your help solving this case. The suspect is described as a male in his 20's, 5'10", thin build, black mask, dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants.

- Make sure you have strong locks on your doors. Keep doors and windows locked at all times.
- Install an alarm and/or video surveillance system.
- Maintain well-lit porches and driveways.
- Trim bushes and trees to increase visibility from inside of your house and to avoid hiding spots.
- Install signs such as Alarm, Surveillance System or Beware of Dog.
