On February 23, 2021, at 11:46 pm, Oakland Police officers were on patrol when they observed a speeding Chevrolet Camaro traveling eastbound on International Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The officers observed the Camaro collide with a Ford Explorer, that was stopped at the red light, eastbound International Boulevard at the intersection of Seminary Avenue.
The Oakland Police Department's Traffic Investigators preliminary investigation revealed the Camaro entered the intersection against a red light and was broadsided by a Lexus ES350, which was traveling southbound Seminary Avenue. The Camaro then collided with a Honda Civic, which was traveling northbound Seminary Avenue. The driver of the Camaro was ejected from the vehicle. The Camaro then collided with a street light pole on the south sidewalk of International Boulevard, ultimately coming to a stop.
Officers on the scene immediately attempted life-saving measures on the driver of the Camaro. The Oakland Fire Department arrived at the scene to provided additional medical attention. Unfortunately, the driver of the Camaro was pronounced deceased.
The driver and passenger of the Lexus ES350 were transported to the hospital with a complaint of pain. No other involved party was injured.
The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro was identified as a 23-year-old male, San Lorenzo resident.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was identified as a 20-year-old male, Oakland resident.
The driver of the Lexus ES350 was identified as a 62-year-old male, Pittsburg resident.
The driver of the Honda Civic was identified as a 20-year-old female, Oakland resident.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are a factor in this collision. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
