OPD ANNOUNCES A NEW TIP LINE TO REPORT ILLEGAL SIDESHOW ACTIVITY
Oakland CA - The Oakland Police Department created the new non-emergency email sideshowtips@oaklandca.gov It's a tip line where residents and visitors can report information regarding illegal sideshows, as well as vehicles and people involved in this activity.
The new email is an alternative to our non-emergency number (510) 777-3333 and is an additional means of collecting information about illegal sideshows. If there is an emergency or immediate safety threat, call 911. The department continues its commitment and dedication to investigating, enforcing, and preventing illegal sideshow activities from occurring in the City of Oakland.
In the last two months, several vehicles were seized with 30-day holds as part of ongoing investigations into illegal sideshows that occurred in Oakland this year. These vehicles were seized in Oakland, Bay Point, Fremont, and Stockton thanks to assistance from Fremont Police Department, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, and CHP - Stockton. The white Chevy (pictured) was seized nearly three months after its involvement in an illegal sideshow in Oakland.
We recognize that illegal sideshow activity is not unique to Oakland and is a regional issue that affects our neighborhoods, businesses, and quality of life. Historically, illegal sideshow activity has led to serious injuries, shootings, and death of spectators and or participants. The City will continue to work with our neighboring cities and other law enforcement partners to find long term solutions to illegal sideshows.
