On November 8, 2020, at approximately 11:37 AM the Communications Division received reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of 71st Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew responded to the scene. The victim, was transported to a local hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
