FROG / Hardy Park Renovation Grand Opening
Oakland, CA – Oakland Public Works has recently completed the renovation of Hardy Park, also known in the community as FROG Park after the community group Friends of the Greenbelt. OPW and FROG celebrated Sunday with a ribbon cutting and grand opening.
The project expands and enhances play opportunities for a wide range of age groups and physical needs within Frog Park. The FROG Committee led an intensive community design process to envision the improved playground, and have championed the project to completion. Public Works managed the project through reviews and approvals, permitting, and construction.
Grand Opening: The public is invited to celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Frog Park Renovation Project:
When: Sunday, February 9th 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Where: Frog/Hardy Park: 5500 Claremont Ave, Oakland, CA 94618
(between Hardy St. cul-de-sac, and corner of Claremont Ave & Hudson St.)
Who: Speakers include Oakland City Councilmember Dan Kalb, and community partners at Friends of the Rockridge-Temescal Greenbelt (FROG).
Features of the Project: The project provides new toddler, standard and ADA-compatible swings, and innovative new play equipment. New features include:
- Additional Swings: two toddler-size, two standard belt-style, one ADA-compatible molded-bucket style
- Three-way seesaw/ teeter-totter
- ‘Spinnaround’ rotating pyramid structure with climbing net
- Additional bench seating
- Expanded resilient play surface area

- Mayor’s Commission on Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) grant
- Oakland Measure HH Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Tax Fund
- CalTrans/Alameda County Transportation Commission Grant
- Community donations
