New Cannabis Applications Near Residential Zones Subject to Additional Requirements

These amendments include a public notice and community meeting requirement for all applications submitted after October 2nd that identify an address that is within 300' of a residential zone. The intent behind the requirement is to provide an opportunity for operators to present their proposed use to nearby residents and hear what concerns or suggestions neighbors have regarding the business. This should help clarify any misconceptions and address neighborhood specific issues before a cannabis operation is approved.

The Cannabis permit reference map http://www.arcgis.com/home/web... now includes an additional orange layer that displays areas within 300' of a residential zone that are subject the this new requirement.

If proposed a cannabis permit application seeks to operate in such an area, the cannabis operator will need to coordinate with the Special Activity Permits Division on selecting a day and time for the community meeting, and pay an additional noticing fee ($1170.00) to cover the City's costs in notifying neighboring properties. Equity applicants are not subject to this noticing fee requirement.
