Our office will be presenting a resolution for the City Council’s consideration at the City Council’s Community and Economic Development (CED) Committee on Tuesday January 28th to receive and appropriate the Bureau of Cannabis Control’s (BCC) $1,657,201.65 Grant to support the City of Oakland’s Equity Program. In order for the City of Oakland to receive the BCC funding, our City Council must approve a resolution to accept the funding and authorize the City Administrator to enter into a grant agreement with the BCC.
For information on the proposed use of BCC grant funds, including staff’s recommendation to direct these funds towards grants to operators, commercial kitchens for equity manufacturers, support for events featuring equity businesses, workforce development programming, and a program analyst position to support grant and equity program administration, please review the staff report. Here is the agenda for the January 28th CED meeting the meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:30pm at City Hall in Hearing Room One, however, the cannabis grant item is the second to last item on the agenda.
