Schedule Group Boating Activities

The Lake Merritt Boating Center will be tentatively offering group boating activities this year. The date for scheduling to begin is TBD.

For OPRYD Field Trips

1) Boats available for use are Pedal Boats or Kayaks

2) Most sessions are about 1 ½ hours including a safety talk, getting into lifejackets, and going boating.

3) We recommend ages 7 and up.

4) Recreation Centers are required to have staff who have completed the Staff Boat Training. The trained staff is required to give the group safety talk, assist their youth with lifejackets, demonstrate how to enter, exit, and use selected boats and accompany their groups out on the water. Boating staff may assist if they have time, but are not required.

5) Youth ratios on the water are 1 trained staff: 15 youth for Pedal Boating and 1 trained staff: 7 boats for Kayaking (7-14 youth depending on use of singles or doubles).

6) A Perfect Mind roster of participants will need to be provided to the boating center staff before boating. Please write in your staff names as well. If youth are not enrolled in a Paid OPRYD program, standard boat rental rates apply.
