The OYC continues to work with the CTE Hub Coalition to design and launch the opening of a housing and wrap around service center for transitional-aged youth (TAY) who are housing insecure. Youth Commissioners have been working on the creation of a survey for TAY to give their feedback on which career technical education (CTE) programs they would like to see available at the CTE TAY Hub. The Youth Commission and other members of the Coalition have been engaging with the OUSD School Board to advocate for advancing the development of the CTE TAY Hub at 1025 2nd Ave. On November 30th, the OUSD School Board voted to pass this initiative along with proposals to prioritize Measure Y funding to demolish current buildings and to direct OUSD staff to engage with CTE TAY Hub coalition and other stakeholders. We are proud to be on the CTE Hub Coalition @ctehub_1025 working together to help launch an exciting new housing complex and Career and Education Hub for transitional aged youth (TAY) who are facing significant barriers to finding housing in Oakland.
