Investments in school safety continue to grow across City transportation services, including crosswalks, school safety patrols, paving, parking enforcement, traffic management, community and agency partnerships

• OakDOT paved more than 40 miles from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 – setting back-to-back records after paving 32 miles the previous year.

• Priority is on long-neglected neighborhood streets in a national-first equity-based 3-year paving plan that puts the infrastructure bond Measure KK to work.

Road closures on Grizzly Peak and along Lakeshore Avenue and Grand Avenue will provide safe access to parks and open space and support emergency vehicle access

After collaboration with family members of Deontae Bush, an Oaklander killed in a 2018 crash on 35^th Avenue, OakDOT installs innovative ‘speed cushions’ designed to slow traffic without impeding emergency response and transit vehicles on high-injury East Oakland street

All Oakland parking regulations will be enforced going forward; each vehicle will be eligible for one no-fine warning citation for RPP violations through the month of February.

Residents and businesses can help minimize flooding in their neighborhood by volunteering with the City’s Adopt-A-Drain program to keep a storm drain near their home or business free of debris. About 1,100 storm drains are currently adopted by Oaklanders, but many thousands more are waiting to be adopted. By signing up, you will receive storm notification emails before large storm events, and the City can provide rakes, brooms, dust pans, bags and other supplies.
