Early this morning, September 22, 2021, at 6:29 AM, a community member called the Oakland Police Department’s Communications Division to report a man armed with a firearm and brandishing that firearm in the 2400 block of Telegraph Avenue (it was later determined the 2200 block of Telegraph Avenue).

The Oakland Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that occurred on September 9, 2021, just after 8:30 PM, in the area of 38th Avenue and International Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered three vehicles were involved in the crash.

Today, Oakland Police Chief LeRonne L. Armstrong discussed the increase in the city’s violent crimes and homicides. At the start of the news conference, Chief Armstrong held a moment of silence for 87 seconds, one second for each life lost in Oakland this year. That’s one life lost every three days in Oakland. This same time last year, 64 lives were lost in our City.
