On Sunday, February 27, the fifth annual Black Joy Parade will celebrate the Black experience in downtown Oakland including Black-owned businesses, local artists, and others. The outdoor street festival is free and family-friendly. Come visit the Malonga Arts Residents Association (MARA) of the Malonga Casquelord Center for the Arts at their booth along the parade route. Learn more about MARA's talented artist and residential community. Staff will also be engaging residents on the Oakland General Plan by conducting brief informational interviews on experiences of housing and environmental justice. The parade begins on 14th and Broadway in downtown Oakland, Ca at 12:30pm PST. Following the parade, The Black Joy Parade celebration will be held on 19th and Broadway and feature a curation of 200+ local artists, craftsmen, food vendors, performances and more.
